I am an associate professor at the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I received my B.A. in psychology and English from the University of Michigan and my Ph.D. in social psychology from New York University. Before arriving at Rady, I worked in the Netherlands at the University of Amsterdam, Leiden University, and Radboud University Nijmegen.

In my research, I apply my psychological training, particularly in social cognition, to understanding how differences in power, status, and influence occur and the effects they have. My work can be found in leading journals such as PNAS, Psychological Science, and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

I am a proud first-generation college student. I live in San Diego, California, with my spouse and kid. I will never turn down the opportunity for good beer, cocktails, food, or music.
